紅雀球星外野手Matt Holliday（哈樂戴）將離開待了8年的紅雀隊，由於今年球季Holliday因傷成績有所下滑，無法達到與紅雀合約當中國聯MVP票選前10名的條件，因此球季結束後紅雀將不會執行明年1700萬美元的球隊選擇權，Holliday將投入自由市場。
Holliday今年球季因左手拇指的傷勢，導致出賽場數較少，僅繳出0.246／0.322／0.461的打擊三圍，無法達成合約的條件，紅雀選擇不執行與Holliday1700萬美元的球隊選擇權，不過也因此必須付出200萬美元將合約買斷。
36歲的Holliday13年大聯盟生涯當中超過一半的球季打擊率超過3成，總計轟出295轟，7度入選全明星賽，4度拿下銀棒獎，是名非常穩定的強打者，雖然今年成績有所下滑，不過投入市場後預計還是會有不少球隊對這名老將有興趣。
